Abby is the one in pink :)
This morning we got up and went to Bethany at Silver Lake for the homeschool band to play for the residents. This is kind of their practice concert. They have another on Sunday. They did very well and the residents seemed to enjoy it. I didn't get many pictures, everytime Abby saw me with the camera she tried to hide behind her music stand! The rest of the day was spent on school work and catching up laundry. Jacob is reviewing punctuation. Today we were working on apostrophe's. You know singular possessive, plural and plural possessive..... He says why did he have to know this? One thing he tosses around wanting to do is become a police officer, I told him you have to write reports. He says doesn't the computer do that, well yes, but you have to input the info! LOL I thought it was cute!

Made spaghetti for dinner. No leftovers! I'm going to have to start doubling what I cook. Jacob can eat alot! I have no idea where it all goes, his metabolism is fast!

Be blessed!

Tuesday, May 27th

So tuesday we took advantage and slept in. Well everyone but daddy, he had to go back to work! We got up, worked on some school and then left to go to Abby's book club. It was a beautiful day. Not much else to report, just a pretty regular day and I forgot to take pics.

Be blessed!

catching up Memorial weekend

Friday afternoon, Abby had an appt. with the opthamologist. He says she needs another surgery on both eyes to correct the over correction from the surgery when she was 4. He is not a pediatric opthamologist so he has referred her out to one in Kirkland. We have an appt. there on June 3rd. She is taking the news amazingly well. Of course he hinted that she will probably be able to lose the eyeglasses afterwards! There is some motivation. We are hoping to have this completed before we move. There is no pediatric opthamologist in Boise. Unbelievable! The closest are Spokane or Salt Lake City!

We left saturday for camping with my brother and his family. This was our first official camping trip. We went once before but stayed in a cabin, so everyone says it doesn't count! LOL I was very unsure, but we did have alot of fun. There were things we could do different, but overall had a good time. The rain stayed away, just one quick shower sunday evening. And then it was raining when we got up monday morning. Otherwise it was beautiful, perfect weather. We will definitely do this again. :) If you have military connections you definitely have to try out Jim Creek Recreation in Arlington where we camped. It is perfect!

We came home early monday. My dad called and invited us to the Cruisin' Colby car show. I knew Jacob would love this so we went. I'm amazed at all Jacob knows about cars! See the pics at the top of the post.

Just Some Pics for Now

Abby flying her kite.

Jacob, kite flying.

Playing flyers up with the frisbee. I thought this pic was funny! That's my brother up in the air, the frisbee went right through his hands and his wife was right there to catch it. Paul was throwing it(not in the pic). You can also see Abby, my nephew, and Jacob.

Niece resting in the grass. She wouldn't show me her face...

My niece fishing. I love her braids.

My nephew playing. He reminds me so much of my brother at that age(almost 8!)

Abby fishing.

Jacob fishing.

Paul fishing.

Proof that yes Becki slept on the ground in a tent! The air mattress decided to spring a leak the first night, so I got to really feel ever rock underneath!

Went camping this weekend. I have pics to post. I'll try to write more soon.

Birthdays Birthdays

Okay, so my dad has his eyes closed! It's the only pic I got tonight of him and Cheryl.
My brother, Jason, my Sil, Wendy, and my sister Jessica.

Jacob, my nephew, Abby, my niece. Playing Nintendo at Grandpa's house.

So now I have to figure out how to move pictures around in the post. I'm sure it's something simple and I'll stumble upon it soon!
Today was a pretty busy day. We got a full days worth of school in. Should finish up in a couple of weeks. Yippeeee. Just did some chores, worked on the weekend chores since we'll be gone camping this weekend. Balanced the checkbook, corrected a weeks worth of math.
Paul came home a little early and took Jacob up to the cemetary where the Boy Scouts were putting out flags on all the graves of the veterans for Memorial day. I forgot to give Paul the camera, so I don't have pics of that. :(
After that we went to my dad's house for a bbq for his bday and his wife, Cheryl's birthday. Yes they share the same birthday, same day, same month, same year! LOL I forget which one is older though!
I wanted to download the pics and get them posted. I'm going to make one more post with a few more pictures from tonight and then I've got to go help Paul in the garage. He's making a list of things we still need for camping.
Be blessed!

Rainy Wednesday

Thought I would update a little since I was thinking about it and sitting here.

I didn't post where we are moving, some of you hadn't heard that info yet. We are moving to Boise, Idaho. Paul has to report mid August to his unit, we will be leaving right around August 1st. Our plan is to stay at his dad's while we find a place to live, hopefully that won't take long. Paul will get 10 days TDY to help with this and can take some more leave days if need be as well.

(We've decided we would go ahead and use our children's first names)FYI

What we've been up to.....not a whole bunch of new things. Paul and Jacob went to Boy Scouts monday night, I think they just worked on some badges, I can't remember which ones, that's daddy's dept. so most of the time I don't pay alot of attention unless it's something he needs to work on during the day. Abby and I went to her Keepers of the Faith meeting while the boys were gone. We are working on our Etiquette chapter. Rachel who is our fearless leader :) put together a fabulous lapbook on manners that the girls worked on. She is so creative! What a fun way to learn.

Tuesday we worked on our schoolwork in the morning and then after lunch had some families from our homeschool group over to play Legos. Jacob brought out every Lego he has for this event. He's got quite abit from over the last 12 years! I should have taken a picture, but of course I didn't think of it. I will try and get better about that. They had alot of fun playing together and we are looking forward to the next one.

After my niece and nephew got out of school for the day, they came over to play. They played webkinz(with the actual animals, not on the computer) and played outside a bit. We ended up going out to dinner with them as well.

Wednesdays are band days for my daughter. This morning was actually our last class. Next week they will play at a retirement home here in town and then on the weekend will have their last concert for the year. Abby has really enjoyed playing the flute and we all will miss this group next year!

We had plans to meet some friends at the park afterwards but it was raining too much to do so. We had already rescheduled it from last week! So we are going to try again for next week. Pray for no rain! LOL So instead we ran a couple errands. Jacob found some neat books at Value Village about soldiers and their uniforms and gear from the early wartimes. Also a spy book from Usborne. He's upstairs as I type reading them. He couldnt' wait to get to them!

We came home and had lunch and then got busy on some schoolwork. Jacob had taken most of his with him to work on while we waited for Abby this morning. So it didn't take him long to finish. Abby is still working on some math. Takes her longer, she keeps spinning in her chair and stopping to ask me questions completely unrelated to math! LOL

Tonight I'm making pork chops for dinner. Jacob requested green beans, so I will make those as well. Not sure what else.

Finally received Abby's referral for her opthamologist appt. Friday. Of course they listed the wrong doctor. But I called and it's the right clinic so they said it shouldn't be a problem. Just once I'd like a referral to come through with no hiccups. I haven't had the happen once yet!

I don't have pictures. I need to remember to take some!

Be blessed!

Past Pictures

Above is my dd10's birthday this past March. She is the one in the center with the eyeglasses. The tall guy is my ds12. The two little ones are my niece and nephew(my brother's children). The other two girls are two of dd10's best friends.

Below are my children and their cousins at the zoo during Spring Break.

So I finally downloaded the pics off of my camera and thought I'd share some. Seems I haven't taken a picture since our visit to the zoo in April! Guess I'd better get on the ball. I've asked my hubby about purchasing a smaller camera that I can keep with me in my purse. He's all for it, yet we have to wait for those pesky finances to allow for one. We've been trying to live credit free for awhile and managing pretty well, guess I can't let a new camera ruin that now, can I? Okay, so here goes and lets see if I can figure out how to add pictures to the post!

First Post

I am attempting to step into the blogging world. My husband has promised to help me monitor my time online so this does not add to the time I already spend. You know how easy it is to lose time when you get sucked into this thing I am sure.

My first and foremost reason for starting this blog is to help our family and friends keep in touch and still see a glimpse into our life as we make yet another military move. This time the move takes us away from three years spent at "home". This always make the move harder I think. We are excited at what lies ahead of us, as throughout the whole process we have seen God's hand in it all. We've had a certain peace about it, though we are still sad to leave.

A little about our family. I am Becki(the wife and mom) and I'm married to Paul(the husband and dad). We have been married for almost 15 years! Such a milestone I think. The time has flown by, it seems like yesterday we were so young and even quite dumb at times. LOL Neat to see how we have grown up together over the years. I'm blessed to have spent the years with my hubby and so look forward to very many more.

We have two children. I'm not sure about sharing their names on a public blog. So for now they are ds12 and dd10. When I come up with nicknames I'll let you all know. :) Ds12 loves video games, Legos, books and building models. Dd10 loves animals(of all kinds), crafting and drawing. She also very much enjoys music and soccer. We homeschool the children and are just finishing up our third year doing so. The reasons we continue to do so are so much different from the original reason that we started. It's been awesome to see how God used one thing to help us see another and we believe that He has led us to do this very important job. I pray that He sees fit for us to continue to do so!

I am blessed to be able to stay home full time, taking care of my husband and children, our home, and overseeing the kid's learning. There are of course hard days, but I am finally finding the Joy that comes from this calling on my life! I do hope to share and convey that Joy through my posts. My JOY comes from my Lord!

I am also the wife of a soldier. I sometimes joke that I am married to the Army! It seems like they think they own us at times and get to dictate our life....but we know that Ultimately our Father above owns us and we are delighted to follow His path for our life. Sometimes we just need that "kick" to remind us! :)

I will close for now. I hope to add pictures as I blog, which means I will need to be better about getting the pics off of the camera and onto the computer. So if you don't see a pic for awhile just give me a shout. My profile pic is almost a year old! Does that say anything?

Have a Blessed day!
